University of Basrah organizes a scientific workshop on (The role of electronic educational tools in treating children with autism and speech difficulties)

The College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Computer Science, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education and the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Unit, organized a scientific workshop on the role of electronic educational tools in treating children with autism.

The workshop was held on Monday, February 16, 2026, in the discussion hall of the Department of Computer Science, with the participation of faculty members, researchers, graduate students, and those interested in the field of special education and educational technology.

The workshop aimed to highlight the growing role of digital technologies and electronic educational tools in supporting rehabilitation and treatment programs for children with autism spectrum disorder and speech difficulties, and to demonstrate how artificial intelligence applications, interactive systems, and educational software can be used to improve children's communication and cognitive skills.

The workshop also addressed:

Enhancing the integration between technical, educational, and psychological disciplines.

Presenting practical experiences and successful applied models in rehabilitation centers.

Discussing the challenges facing the use of electronic tools in the local environment.

Providing recommendations for developing digital learning environments that are more adapted to the needs of children with special needs. The workshop included scientific topics such as:
