The President of the University of Basra, Dr. Aqeel Fadel Al-Dahan, received the envoys of Basra Provincial Council Member and Chairman of the Oil and Gas Committee, Iman Al-Maliki, to discuss and launch an exceptional and comprehensive training program in cooperation with the Basra Oil Company.
The meeting included discussing the terms of the program, which in its first phase targets students of the College of Engineering, specifically the Department of Petroleum Engineering, for the second, third, and fourth phases, in addition to a special and independent track for graduates of the College of Engineering at the University of Basra.
The most prominent features of the initiative are that it is an integrated annual trip that goes beyond the common summer training method, which does not exceed one month, to extend the training over the course of an entire academic year to ensure a deep understanding of the practical aspect, as it combines theoretical lectures with direct application in work sites and laboratories to bridge the gap between academic curricula and the requirements of the modern labor market, while adopting a knowledge progression that provides basic content for students in the second to fourth stages because they are closest to entering the labor market, in addition to including a special section for graduates and seeking to expand in the future to include training in all other engineering specializations
